Gladiolus

Named because of the shape of the leaves, the name originates from the latin word gladius, meaning sword. In Greek gladiolus are called xiphium, also meaning sword and have become a symbol of the Roman gladiators. But do not worry, the flowers and leaves are not sharp!

Available in variety colors, gladioli are ideal in garden beds or brought indoors as long lasting cut flowers.
